The village of Moinho is 12km from the city of Alto Paraíso de GO and is a small village in the heart of a beautiful valley in Chapada dos Veadeiros.
Surrounded by mountains and rivers of pure and healing water, the quilombola village is studied for its rich biodiversity and the healing alternatives that the community presents, such as the study of medicinal herbs, abundant production of organic food with a strong reference in agroforestry and diverse knowledge of the land.

QUILOMBOLA COMMUNITY GASTRONOMY OPTION

Dona Conceição is a master of the quilombola knowledge of the Povoado do Moinho . Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, cook, farmer and producer.
of delicacies from the countryside, such as cassava flour. Their relationship with food is closely linked to their relationship with the land and their roots.
The video we put here was produced by a local cultural project in the community and tells a little about the life story of Dona Conceição, who shares her knowledge about the tradition of artisanal cassava flour production in the region.
Ceição is a reference in cuisine at Moinho, and currently serves in Guatambu, feeding visitors and local residents with his wonderful food cooked on a wood-fired stove.
It is a great responsibility to talk about a remaining Quilombola community based on the limited experience and worldview of a "comer" (the way local people refer to those who arrive from outside.
The beauty of living, hosting and sharing some of the learnings that come from being in the community and somehow involved is a special way of reconnecting and learning from what we really need to understand within ourselves. Especially for me, Moinho was a space of welcome, understanding and reconnection and unintentionally motivated me to move forward, to believe, because everything is cyclical in life.
Among great people who carry on their backs the knowledge of a life surrounded by nature and its benefits to various personal experiences, the village of Moinho stands out for its welcoming energy, embrace, learning, and affection. Surrounded by rivers, easy access to wells and streams allows us to be free in our interaction with nature, perceiving the various ways of learning by being attentive and present with care.
Since the village of Moinho is located far from the city of Alto Paraíso, you need to have some kind of transportation to get there. A dirt road opens up a path between the mountains carved into the mountain range to the mill, where you can see the countryside in the middle, the valley of the mill, from above.
TAXI OR TRANSFER:
You can arrange a transfer in advance to get to the town, or a taxi to take you there.
Transfers usually have cheaper prices, but in the city of Alto Paraíso, it's pretty much the same. Average price is R$250.00 per person. Contact us if you want reliable transfer tips.
RIDE:
There is a carpooling point right at the beginning of the mill road, on the corner with the OCA Viveiro space. You can search on Google or GPS to get there. Important tip: Always hitchhike during the day, as there is less traffic at night.
OWN CAR:
To visit Chapada, it is recommended that you have your own car or a means of transportation between the attractions. The most beautiful of them are far from the city center of Alto Paraíso and São Jorge, so it is not worth spending money on a transfer or taxi to the waterfalls, depending on how many days you are staying. WHAT ARE THE ATTRACTIONS OF THE VILLAGE OF MOINHO?
Well, if you are tired of the traditional tourist route of Chapada dos Veadeiros, you can go visit the Anjos and Arcanjos waterfalls.
The two waterfalls of the Pretinho River are true masterpieces of nature, carved into a mountain over time. And what's better: they have pools so good for swimming that you won't even mind not going to the usual tourist spots.
Plus, for those who have a four-legged friend, the place is pet-friendly! Yes, you read that right: dogs are welcome at the Anjos and Arcanjos waterfalls. After all, they also deserve to enjoy a natural pool, right?
In short, if you want to escape the obvious, go to a little-visited place and still enjoy a stunning natural landscape, this is your chance.
ANJOS WATERFALL - MILL TOWN
The Anjos Waterfall and the Arcanjos Waterfall are the main attractions that draw tourists to visit Moinho. Although the waterfall is private, residents do not pay, but for tourists the cost is 35.00 to 40.00.

ARCANJOS WATERFALL - MILL TOWN
It's just a short 1.5 km walk and you can jump into the freezing water and admire the rock formations. And what a formation! The waterfall was formed under a mini canyon and has a drop of about 30 meters. It's a large pool and perfect for cooling off after a hike, but be prepared for the cold, because the waters are cold all year round!
Getting to the ARCANJOS waterfall requires a bit more physical effort, as it is at the top, all worked up at altitude. You can swim in a spacious pool, which is slightly dark, but very clean!
The trail is completely shaded, making it a delight to walk. There is also a giant natural bathtub next to the waterfall, but you can only go in during the dry season - so if you want to take a dip there, you'll have to pray for the sun to hold back!
But Arcanjos is really great, it has a bigger and very deep well, with some water stairs that go down to the river. It's impossible not to fall in love!
